How to get the best deal on a cruise...
Everybody asks this - my answer... book early, and work with a good cruise agent. To my amazement, I see people who pick the wrong cruise (typically online, without any guidance), but tell me they got a great deal!!! First of all, how would they know, and secondly, why anyone would shortchange his or her vacation by doing this is a complete mystery to me. The wrong cruise, even at a good price, is still the wrong cruise!
Booking early offers great benefit as you get what you want, when you want it, at a fair price.
Having a good agent is the single most important choice you can make. A good cruise counselor should suggest itineraries, ships to consider or avoid, beneficial cabin locations, find you the best deal (including price decreases after the sale), and basically get you the best bang for your buck.
What about last minute bookings? Typically, last minute deals are a myth - booking 2 weeks out usually costs more than booking 6 months out - if you can get the cruise you want and if you can find reasonable air! (In most last minute cases - it’s because there are no cheap flights left to reach the ship!)
AND...If rates drop close in, most lines protect reduced rates!
